How to Defrag a Computer - Follow These Simple Steps
By Martina Thomas
In order to make the computer run faster as well as to sequentially order the files the user needs to defrag the computer. When all files get arranged in order and gets stored in a single place gives the user more space.
In the hard drive if the files saved are kept unarranged then the system might take longer time to search and recover the files. Computer defragmentation helps to find files instantly.
Computer defragmentation is not a difficult process as such. It can be done by home users. While the process goes on the system sorts out files as per their utility and recovering frequency accordingly. This makes the system faster as well as increase the storage space. If your system hard drive is full then it would take more to defrag the system.
Below given are simple steps on how to defrag a computer:
You can defrag your computer through two ways. You can either use the inbuilt defragmentation program or download any application that would defrag the computer. It is safe to use the windows inbuilt program.
You can follow this simple procedure to defragment your computer running a windows operating system:
You can delete useless files or uninstall programs. These take up the disk space. Defragmentation would provide free space. Files are also arranged in an order.
All programs that are not necessary should be kept closed. Check that all the programs which are not required are closed. No program should run in the background as it might slow down this process. All timed programs that need to run should also be cancelled. Running programs one at a time would be better.
Temp files should be deleted as that would create more disk space. In order to clear the disk just run cleaner program in the windows.
After completing these tasks you can defragment the computer. You have to click on start, choose the program which has the name dfrg.msc. Then select the drive that you want to defrag. Thereafter click on the key called defrag button. Now the process of defragmentation starts.
The results would be shown immediately. You would see the files have been arranged and the speed of the system has become better. Now you can access your files as well as recover them easily. It is suggested to regularly defrag the computer hard drive and run the cleaner program as well.
